Prof. Saleha Begum Chowdhury
Prof. Saleha Begum Chowdhury completed her MBBS degree from Chittagong Medical College in 1979. She started her career as a service trainee in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department and obtained her postgraduation degree (FCPS) from the Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons in 1988. She had worked as a faculty for more than 30 years and held the position of course Co-Ordinator of FCPS for ten years and the MS residency program for five years. Her research focuses on the benefits of maternal and child health. She is the Pioneer of the establishment of PMTCT (Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV infection) services in public facility-based hospitals in Bangladesh. She also established the University Fistula Center in BSMMU in 2015 in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In addition, she was the Secretary General of the Obstetrical and Gynaecology Society of Bangladesh (OGSB) from 2019-2021. Dr. Saleha has more than 45 national and international publications in different renowned peer-reviewed journals. Currently, she is working as secretary-general in the Endometriosis & Adenomyosis Society of Bangladesh. She is one of the principal investigators from Bangladesh in the WHO ACTION-III trial, where the efficacy of corticosteroids in the late preterm stage will be determined.
